De vroege en zorgvuldig geplande integratie van palliatieve zorgaspecten in het behandeltraject van patiënten met levensbedreigende aandoeningen kan hun kwaliteit van leven significant verbeteren. Dit is de centrale boodschap van een recente lezing door prof. Christophe Chantrain op het jaarcongres van de SIO in Brussel. Chantrain, kinderarts gespecialiseerd in hematologie-oncologie uit Luik, is verbonden aan het liaison-team van CHC Montlégia en werkt als opleider bij het Universitair Centrum voor Hypnose in Luik. Tijdens zijn boeiende presentatie deelde hij zijn uitgebreide expertise over het aanvangen en onderhouden van gesprekken over zorgplanning.
