CancerCare hoofdredactieraadleden Isabelle Vosters en Vanessa Vercauteren hadden de gelegenheid om deel te nemen aan het jaarlijkse EBMT-congres (European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation). Jaarlijks komen duizenden zorgprofessionals samen op dit congres om de laatste kennis op het gebied van bloed- en beenmergtransplantatie uit te wisselen. Dit jaar vond het congres plaats van 30 maart tot en met 2 april in Florence, Italië. In dit artikel delen Vanessa en Isabelle hun ervaringen op het congres, waarbij de focus ligt op de nieuwe ontwikkeling op het gebied van behandelingen en de benadering en ondersteuning van de patiënt en hun familie/verzorgers. Daarnaast komen ‘graft-versus-host’-ziekte (‘graft-versus-host disease’, GVHD), aferese en posttransplantatielymfoom (‘post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder’, PTLD) aan bod.
