Het risico op borstkanker verschilt sterk van persoon tot persoon. De vaststelling van een verhoogd risico op borstkanker kan veel angst, vragen en bezorgdheden met zich meebrengen. Tijdens het jaarlijkse congres van de Vereniging Verpleegkundigen Radiotherapie en Oncologie gaf verpleegkundig specialist Louise Saenen van het UZ Leuven een presentatie over wetenschappelijk onderbouwde beslissingsondersteuning voor mensen met een verhoogd risico op borstkanker in een specifieke hoogrisico raadpleging.
